Data4Life
As VP of Design at Data4Life, I led the design of digital health solutions to securely connect patients, healthcare providers, and research institutions. Our work spanned B2C and B2B applications, enabling data collection, patient engagement, and research studies. Key collaborations included the Robert Koch Institute, Charité, IULM University, and the German Diabetes Association.
Responsibilities and Activites
I directed a team of Product Designers to develop health apps, monitoring tools, and research platforms. This involved creating intuitive, patient-friendly experiences while ensuring compliance with medical and privacy standards. I drove user research with patient groups and healthcare professionals to ensure our solutions met real needs and built trust. A core focus was developing a scalable design system, streamlining product development, and enabling faster iteration across projects. I also established processes to foster collaboration, design critique, and prototyping, ensuring alignment across teams and accelerating delivery.
Problem
Data4Life aimed to bridge the gap between patients, healthcare providers, and research institutions by enabling secure health data collection and sharing. However, the existing solutions lacked intuitive user experiences, creating barriers for patients to engage with the platform and contribute valuable health data. Complex workflows, coupled with the need to ensure compliance with strict medical and privacy regulations, limited the platform’s effectiveness and adoption across diverse user groups.
Solution
I designed patient-centric health applications and data tools that simplified the process of data collection and sharing while ensuring compliance with medical standards. By collaborating closely with healthcare institutions and conducting extensive user research, I developed intuitive interfaces that empowered patients to easily contribute and manage their health data. A scalable design system was created to support rapid development across multiple products, ensuring consistency and accessibility. This redesign enhanced user engagement, increased data contributions, and strengthened partnerships with healthcare providers and research institutions.
